Units are what make up your military force. You use units to attack and defend your territory. A large portion of your GNP is made up of the product of your unit count and the offensive and defensive rating of your units.
Platoons Platoons are generated only in boot camps at a set rate every turn (modified if one has certain
laws, a very high
morale, or by a
Russian bonus). They are not very strong but are improved by Platoon Technologies and cost nothing in upkeep except for the cost of the boot camp maintenance. Also you can only hold a set number of platoons depending on your population. This percentage can also be changed by passing certain laws. As a base you can hold 15% of your uneducated population. After passing laws you can hold a maximum of 33% of your uneducated population.
Weapons Weapons are produced in factories or bought from the Arms Dealer, the Swiss Market, or the Arms Auction. They come in two flavors in each branch; an offensive type and a defensive type. Each costs 6 dollars in upkeep per turn, which is slightly increased by 2% by the law "Education Bill", increased in American territories by 15%, and decreased by the tech "Plastics" by 25%. Weapons can be sold on the Swiss Market to other player for cash as long as another player is willing to pay the price tag.
The three military branches are Ground, Air, and Naval.
The Ground branch includes the primarily defensive Infantry Platoons, defensive Tanks, and offensive Artillery.
The Air branch includes the primarily offensive paratroopers, defensive Fighters, and offensive Bombers.
The Naval branch includes offensively and defensively balanced Marines, defensive Destroyers, and offensive U-boats.
